I was thrilled to be commissioned by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation to produce Stage Left to honor the legacy of innovative and socially conscious Bay Area theater artists. The film takes audiences on a ride through 60 years of San Francisco’s vibrant theater scene, exploring how the community both reflects and shapes the Bay Area’s unique political and social culture.
I hope the film imbues audiences with a refreshed enthusiasm to support and engage with local theater, and inspires a new generation of theater artists to continue to push creative, political, and social boundaries. Stage Left will excite and educate the theater-lover and the novice alike.
